Why do I need God?
Many people now recognize that mankind has a built-in need for Spirituality – just as we have other inbuilt needs such as for friendship; for being valued; to be loved; for food, for shelter, for sexuality and for so many other things that are part of our make-up. Even many who don’t recognize or acknowledge God as our Creator are still drawn to discover their spiritual identity.
The bible explains that we are made in God’s image so, of course, we have a spiritual nature! Just as God is a remarkable God, He made us to be remarkable people – and He gave us inquiring minds. So it’s completely understandable that we question things – even God Himself. It’s also natural that we want to have a relationship with the One who created us.
Unfortunately by ignoring God, and the simple rules that He gave us for life, we have lost much of that spirituality and have become distant from Him. So although we have a built-in need for God, we also have this barrier (sometimes called sin) which stops us from having the loving relationship with Him that we were designed for – which is the root cause of much of the dissatisfaction and discontent in our lives.
The good news is that there is a cure for our problem and that it is accessible to everyone who wants it. To find out about that, you are going to have to follow the link to “Who is Jesus Christ?”.
Thank You for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvellous. (The Bible – Psalms 139:14 )
